well.

Thank you, I enjoyed that immensely.

Ubiety, never heard that one.

Yes, but how to use ubiety in a sentence?

Where would one use any version of it, really? Definitely not in everyday conversation.....

and if you did manage to slip it in there people would think you were an asshole.

I can actually see myself using those words in sentences. Not because I'm an asshole or anything but sometimes a certain word just seems appropriate. I don't consider myself very articulate & sometimes I struggle for the right word, if ubiquitous or ubiety pops in my mind I'll use it.

The trick to using "big" words is pronouncing them correctly & not over doing it.

I have a cousin who says "per say" all the time & "i. e." making little quotation marks with his fingers. Drives me nuts. Everyone thinks he's a pompous ass. :)

I don't think I'd like your cousin very much Handmaiden! I probably wouldn't be able to stand him for more than five minutes.... maybe not even that long!!!

Yep! that's true, you wouldn't.
He has long hair that he flips around & he wears really short shorts without underwear. He tells everyone that he's a native American. Gag me with a spoon!

Oh, so he's one of "those" then.

I may be a bit flamboyant or over the top at times... but I'm not excessively obnoxious. Most of the time.

I'm sure he's nice enough.... but I think I'd make a hasty departure if I had the pleasure of meeting him!

I am myself a pompous ass and always use big words. But I get paid to do that.
(i don't hold up my fingers though. That would be tragic.
Now ubiquitous is actually a very useful word, as is "quotidien". I am interested in that which expresses wonderment in the face of quotidien life, for example.

Ubiety? I have never heard of that one but I can feel a sentence coming on. Only that ubiety and ubiquitous, in this definition, seem oppositional, eg existing everywhere/ existing in a particular place. ?

nonetheless, be assured that my shorts are of the appropriate length and I always wear underwear. And handmaiden, you seem very articulate to me.

My take on the word is this...

Ubiquity can mean it's "just the same old crap".

It doesn't mean "omnipotent". But it sort of does.

It means that it exists. It's here, it's there. It's everywhere.

So, the concept of there possibly being some sort of God or god-like being or none at all, might be a ubiety native to our planet only.

Surely there is life of some form elsewhere and I bet they aren't starting wars over who's God is the best one, or the real one.

They're arguing over whatever their ubiquitous ubiquity is!

Did that make sense?

A certain blogger, who shall remain nameless, seems to think I'm all nonsense, stupidity and sex. I do have a brain.

My head hurts now.

I am sure certain blogger is well aware of the brain factor, but nonsense and sex are quite attractive things.

No, I am still puzzling over the particularity of ubiety. Is it an exclusive particularity of location, concurrent with presence elsewhere?

yes my head hurts too but I prefer doodling around here than doing what I am supposed to be doing.

But hey, this is research, isn't it?

anyway how is that tattoo going?

Certain blogger thinks I'm insane, a freak, a sex fiend, etc. But has not voiced it as such.

After much poking around, I'm going with what I thought. Ubiety is one place or thing with the same thoughts/feelings/desires/common-ness.

You blog, I blog, He blogs, she blogs. The blogging is the ubiety.... even though we're not the same... we're in the same place (internet) doing the same thing (sort of).

Ubiety would also be happening in one of those gated communities where even if you offered them a million dollars you still couldn't get in.

Communisim would be a form of ubiety.

Political parties are a form of ubiety.

The tattoo is fine. The swelling went away. It's red and irritated. That's normal. (I have 9! I should know!)

The one I had finished last saturday is itching like hell. That's normal too, it's a good thing.

WTF? This is so gay. As in ambiguous gay. Speaking of ambiguous... At the ROP meeting I attended today, an older lesbian (in her 60's) brought up the reemergence of the word "queer". She said it made her feel uncomfortable, because back then....it had negative connotations. It was pointed out to her that "queer" did not only have to NOT be a negative word, but could even be useful, in that it covered a whole range of sexual orientation. I thought that was interesting. MY question to you is: Do you think that the word "queer" can or is being used positively?

Hi fifi! I'm glad you wear underwear under your shorts & thank you for implying I'm articulate.

Unknown said...

Gay? If it's on my blog there's something gay about it. I am queer after all.

I'm fine with the word queer, as long as it's not used hatefully. It's just a word.

It means odd, different or unusual. I certainly am that.
